Cambodia Gambling Dens
March 30th, 2026 at 13:25There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are established in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat casino, highlights 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous conveniences aside from the casino, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 gaming tables.
