Cambodia Gambling Halls
April 12th, 2016 at 23:21There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den wagering is banned. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most borders.
The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel building that features a number of amenities in addition to the gambling den, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 tables.
